Frequently asked questions

Below you will find some of our most frequently asked questions about modern phone booths. If you don’t see your questions below, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Planning & Purchasing

The right number of privacy pods for your space depends on several factors: the number of staff members, the square footage of the space, the floorplan and layout of the space, and the type of business being conducted. For planning purposes, we recommend thinking about your space as four different activity zones: focus, collaboration, innovation, and rejuvenation. This will help to determine how many and which size of booths will add the most value. On average, we recommend 1 pod per 10 to 20 staff members. However, even adding just 1 phone booth to your space will significantly reduce noise and distractions when compared to no booths. Our team of designers is here to help; get in touch and we can schedule a meeting to help you make the most of your space.

Technical Info

Loop Phone Booths have been designed and tested to be as quiet as possible. Everything from the door seals to the wall construction to the ventilation system have been optimized to keep your conversations inside the pod confidential. All Loop Phone Booths are third party tested for acoustic performance based on the appropriate ASTM codes. Loop Solos have an NIC rating of 31, Loop Cubes and Loop Access 1 and Access 2 booths have an NIC rating of 26. In practical terms, the level of sound isolation inside of the booth is similar to wearing a high quality pair of industrial earmuffs.

The dimensions of our Loop Phone Booths are designed to accommodate a specific number of occupants. For detailed dimensions of each booth, please visit our Product Specs page. Or download a 3D CAD model of your Loop Phone Booth to drop into your space.

Loop Phone Booths vary in weight depending on the size and style of the pod. For specific booth weights, please visit our Product Specs page.

Yes! The standard door swing for all Loop Phone Booths is left hand. However, we can produce mirrored Solos and right hand swings on Access booths. Visit our Design a Booth page and add a note in the Additional Customization Request for a right hand door swing.

The advanced ventilation system in all Loop Phone Booths is designed to ensure ample airflow while reducing fan noise. We achieve this through a series of sound baffles inside the ductwork of the booths. This results in extremely quiet fans ranging from 20 to 22 dBA NC. For additional information please visit our Product Specs page.

The overhead lights inside of Loop Phone Booths are designed to illuminate the work surface while creating a comfortable atmosphere. All lights are low voltage LED. The Loop Solo features one overhead light and Loop Cubes feature four overhead lights. Loop Access 1 and 2 feature two and four overhead panel lights respectively. For additional information, and specifics regarding LUX, please visit our Product Specs page.

Each of our Loop Phone Booths is available as either a fully customizable, made-to-order booth, or as a QS model with set finishes being a white exterior and neutral grey interior. We maintain a constant stock of QS booths at our facility in Canada which are available for immediate shipment. For more information on the differences between the Custom and QS line please visit our Product Specs page.

Safety & Sustainability

Phone Booths purchased in Canada and the United states must be third party certified to UL962 and listed by an accredited agency such ETL. This ensures that the products have been mechanical strength tested, tip tested, fire tested, and most importantly electrical tested. For booths sold in Canada, certification to CSA C22.2 is also a requirement to meet building codes. Loop Phone Booths are UL962 and CSA C22.2 certified by Intertek and are ETL listed. You can learn more about our industry leading approach to safety and certification here. In addition to our certifications, Loop Phone Booths are compliant with the current POD guidelines set by BIFMA.

Loop Phone Booths have passed independent third party laboratory tests ANSI/BIFMA X7.1 and ANSI/BIFMA e3-2019 7.6.1 for VOC emissions including Formaldehyde. This independently verified test confirms that there is no harmful off gassing from the materials used in our Loop Phone Booths. The ventilation system for all Loop Phone Booths has been specifically designed to ensure that the cleanliness and temperature of the air inside of the booth stays as close as possible to the air outside. That is why we use two active fans in Solos with 54 air changes per hour, 4 active fans in Cubes and Access 1 booths with 30 air changes per hour, and 6 active fans in Access 2 booths with 30 air changes per hour. The number of air changes per hour on all Loop Phone Booths is three to five times higher than the industry guideline as established by BIFMA Pods.

Loop Solos do not require sprinklers in any jurisdiction due to the fact that they are smaller than the square footage threshold as indicated by NFPA 13. Larger privacy pods may require sprinklers depending on the authority having jurisdiction. Our larger booths such as the Loop Cube, Loop Access 1, and Loop Access 2, are provided standard with a sprinkler knockout. A certified self-contained sprinkler system is available for purchase as an add on for our larger booths upon request. Alternatively, a flex line connected to the building infrastructure may be installed. Directions on recommended sprinkler installation are included in our Instruction Manuals. All sprinkler installations are to be completed by a trained professional. If you have any questions about sprinklers, our product specialists are here to support.
